A horror story is more nerve-wracking when you know it’s based on a real-life event like Conjuring and Annabelle. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of petrifying movies that are true to life! Prepare your heart for it’s going to be a spooky movie marathon!

1. An American Haunting


An American Haunting tells about the case of the Bell family of Tennessee in the United States.

In the beginning, John Bell saw a bizarre creature sitting in the midst of his cornrow. He tried to shot it but soon vanish into thin air. Later that evening, the haunting began. They started to hear strange noises from outside, and John’s daughter was brutally tortured by spirits!

The rumor spread across America that caught the attention of then-president Andrew Jackson. The president was remembered quoted that he “had rather face the entire British Army than spend another night with the Bell Witch” after spending a day at the said place.

2. Poltergeist


Poltergeist is still one of United States highest grossing film. The film revolves around a family who bought a new beautiful-looking villa for only 80,000 dollars. The said villa was first owned by a family who was ruthlessly killed inside the house.

After the new family moves to the villa, they began to encounter strange things and frightening experiences including exorcism!

The film was also said to be cursed

First Airing: Dominique Dunne who played the role of Dana was brutally killed by her ex-boyfriend.

Second Sequel: Julian Beck who portrayed the role of Kane, died of stomach cancer.

Third Sequel: Heather O’Rourke who played the role of Carol Anne died in cardiac arrest at the age of 12, several months before the release of the final chapter.

3. Exorcism of Emily Rose


The Exorcism of Emily Rose was inspired by the real-life event of a 16-year-old German teenager named Anneliese Michel. She was once a devoted Catholic later on diagnosed with epilepsy which escalated quickly to mental depression and other issues.

As time goes by, Anneliese suffered from hallucinations claiming that she can hear and see the devil. Several exorcisms were made to free her away from the six evil spirits that possessed her body. She died on July 1, 1976, followed by investigations made by authorities. On the report, the death was caused by hunger and fever dehydration. The priest and Anneliese’s parents were accused.

4. The Exorcist


The Exorcist was inspired by the record of an exorcism held by a 14-year-old boy. According to the record, there are strange noises heard at the house and furniture moving and floating in the air. The exorcism held was extremely difficult even with a use of Bible.

1. The film was wrapped in controversy. In 1973, during the first screening of the film, some moviegoers scream, felt dizzy and hysterical.

2. A fire took place on the film’s recording studio that burned nine individuals.

5. Child’s Play Chucky


Did you know that Chucky is not just a figment of imagination but rather inspired by the story of a doll named “Robert”?

“Robert” the doll, was a gift to a kid named Robert Eugene Otto in 1906 by one of the child’s family servant. After receiving the gift, his parents often hear their son talking to himself in his room with two different voices. At first, his parents were both in denial about the situation, until they heard their son scream and found its bed and furniture overturned. He claimed that Robert the doll did it.

The doll was abandoned on the attic until a little girl found it. She claimed that the doll tries to abuse and kill her. At present, Robert the doll is in a Museum in Florida. Some tourists claimed strange occurrences happened during their visit to the doll.

6. The Tag-Along 2



This movie was adapted from a well-known urban legend, the girl in a red dress. A family went on a hike. One of them took out a V8 and started filming. It was fun until suddenly one person died. They watched the recorded video and saw a little girl wearing a red dress following them.
