This month, we moviegoers have a lot to look forward to. There are plenty of strong offerings headed to the big screen that will get you out of the house! So start saving money to see these exciting movies. From Spiderman to War For The Planet Of The Apes, July is shaping up to be another anticipating month for queer cinema.

July 6

1. Spiderman Homecoming

With the help of his mentor Tony Stark, Peter Parker balances his life as an ordinary high school student while fighting crime as Spider-Man.

The movie stars  Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tyne Daly, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It is directed by Jon Watts.

2. Reset

Directed by Chang, Hong Seung Yoon, this movie tells how the inventor of time machine did everything to rescue her son who was kidnapped. She even teamed up with many versions of her future self to bring her son back.

The film stars Mi Yang, Wallace Huo, Shih-Chieh Chin.

3. House of the Disappeared

The House of the Disappeared is a South Korean mystery thriller film about a woman who was falsely arrested for murdering her husband. She went back to the house where the incident happened after 25 years of imprisonment. She wants to know the truth and solve her husband’s mysterious death and son’s disappearance. The movie stars  Kim Yun-jin and Ok Taec-yeon, and is directed by Lim Dae-wong.

July 13

4. A Day

When a man lost his daughter in an accident, his day is repeated endlessly. In able for him to solve the mystery of his daughter’s disappearance, he follows the secrets of his repeated days.

Directed by Jo-Seon-ho, the movie stars Kim Myeong-min, Byun Yo-han, Yoo Jae-myung, Jo Eun-hyung, and Sin Hye-seon.

5. 喵星人 Meow

Even those who aren’t that into cats, or pets in general, will surely want to watch this awesome film that stars an adorable cat! Aliens called meow come from a far far away planet and have transformed themselves as cats, living in every corner of the world.

It is directed by Benny Chan, starring Louis Koo and Marry Ma.

6. War for the Planet of the Apes

An American science fiction film directed by Matt Reeves, this sequel to the 2014 film  Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. In this story, Caesar and his apes fight against Earth’s surviving humans. When the apes suffered from heavy losses, Caesar fights with his darker instincts to face the Colonel. The film stars  Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval, Judy Greer and Terry Notary.

7. Wish Upon

Wish Upon is a movie directed by John R. Leonetti which tells the story of a teenage girl who finds a box that carries magic powers and a deadly price for using them. It stars Sherilyn Fenn, Joey King, Elisabeth Röhm.

8. Wukong

In this movie, you’ll see the story of two people who come to the Immortal Mountain to improve their skills. There, they build friendship, experience love and betrayal. The film is directed by Chi-kin Kwok and stars Eddie Peng, Shawn Yue, and Ni Ni.

9. The Book of Henry

This American drama film concerns with an 11-year old genius boy, Henry Carpenter, living in a small suburban town in Hudson Valley, who save the girl next door from abuse, Cristina Sickleman.

July 20

10. Baby Driver

A film written and directed by Edgar Wright conveys a story of a young and talented getaway driver in Atlanta, Georgia, who relies on listening to music to divert attention finds himself being a part of a heist which is doomed to fail.

11. Dunkirk

The story happened during the early stages of the Second World War where the allied soldiers from Britain, Belgium, Canada and France are surrounded by the German Army on the beaches of Dunkirk and evacuated in Operation Dynamo.

12. Our Time Will Come 明月幾時有

Our Time Will Come, a 2017 war film directed by Ann Hui tells a story of a legendary woman named Fang Gu, who is one of the key figures during the Japanese Occupation. It also shows the struggle and fight for freedom.

13. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

An English-language French science fiction action-adventure film that plays a story of  Valerian, a time-traveling agent who was sent to investigate a galactic empire, along with his partner Laureline.

July 27

14. Atomic Blonde

This American action spy thriller film based on the 2012 graphic novel The Coldest City, is a story of Lorraine Broughton, a top-level spy of who needs to find a list of double agents who are being smuggled into the West.

15. Overdrive

A French action thriller film that centers the story on two car thief brothers, who specializes in luxury cars, are hired to steal a Bugatti 1937 to the south of France, when they get caught by the owner, who happened to be the local crime boss.

16. The Dark Tower

The Dark Tower is an upcoming American science fantasy action horror film directed and co-written by Nikolaj Arcel and starring Idris Elba. This film portrays a story of Roland Deschain, a gunslinger who is in quest to protect a mythical structure that supports all realities, the Dark Tower.
